About the Chef:

Chef Valentina is originally from Italy and is now a Corporate Chef at Nella Cucina. She has studied at the prestigious cooking school “La Cucina, Italiana”, then continuing her education at the famous Gualtiero Marchesi Academy in Milan – The International School of Italian Cuisine. She has been teaching Italian cooking, including kitchen skills first in Italy and now at Nella Cucina. 

About the Course:

Cooking is not just about recreating recipes, it is mostly about techniques and only ultimately about recipes.

In this course you will acquire and master basic kitchen skills, cooking techniques and chef tricks. You will learn how to keep your work station clean and organized, and also how to organize your work, ultimately to save time.

Our Chef’s Valentina main goal is to have you, by the end of this course, being able to stir up a meal from a virtually empty fridge.

Day 1

-              Basic knife skills

-              Pantry staples

-              How to store food properly, cross contamination and food safety

-              Let’s talk about vegetables

-              Methods of cooking and chopping

Day 2

-              Basics of pasta: fresh pasta vs dry pasta

-              We will make basic handmade pasta

-              Béchamel sauce

-              Pesto sauce

-              Basic pasta sauces

Day 3

-              Basic meat handling procedures

-              Different types of meat

-              Cooking methods and techniques

Day 4

-              Fish

-              How to buy it

-              How to cook it

-              How to butcher it

Level: beginner

Structure: Demo + hands-on practice. Recipes are done individually or in pairs while they are being taught and explained.

Price: $125 + tax per person per class
